Bio

Bobby van der Sluis works at Refunk, an award-winning creative agency based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, that specializes in Adobe Flash. He is a professional front-end web developer since 1997 and has helped to realise projects for a wide range of brands including Nike, Heineken, Nintendo, Philips and TomTom.

He is a big fan of both web standards and Adobe Flash, and occasionally has the urge to write or speak about topics like CSS design, unobtrusive JavaScript and progressive enhancement, JavaScript best practices, and Adobe Flash Player embed methods. Bobby has contributed to many notable websites, including A List Apart, Adobe Devnet and CSS Zen Garden, and technically reviewed The JavaScript Anthology. He maintains a personal website at bobbyvandersluis.com.

In the summer of 2005 Bobby somehow got involved in solving the Flash embed puzzle, and he is still working on this ever since. He is the creator of UFO and co-author of SWFObject 2, which are both well-known open source JavaScript libraries for detecting the Adobe Flash Player and embedding Flash content in web pages.
